QL Resources plans phased food manufacturing hub in Perak
QL Innofood Park is planned to expand food production in Perak through a phased investment programme led by QL Foods.

QL Foods, a wholly owned subsidiary of QL Resources Bhd, is leading the QL Innofood Park project at Hutan Melintang in Perak, Malaysia. QL Resources broke ground on Jan 25, 2026. The RM1.3 billion programme covers 13 production plants and supporting infrastructure over ten years. It includes an initial RM300 million for infrastructure and RM100 million annually for constructing the plants. Supporting facilities include utilities, warehouse logistics and employee facilities.
Full completion is expected to increase QL Foods' annual production capacity from 50,000 to 180,000 tonnes, adding 130,000 tonnes. The completed project is also expected to create 3,000 jobs. Plans include solar photovoltaic systems, rainwater harvesting, biomass boilers, a waste-sorting centre, automated cold-room storage and retrieval, smart packaging-material warehouses and data-based monitoring. The manufacturing expansion will extend the subsidiary's surimi-based range to protein products using other ingredients, including:
- soy;
- flour;
- poultry.

Existing food manufacturing operations
QL Resources' marine products manufacturing segment generated revenue of RM349.38 million in the quarter ended Sep 30, 2025, its second quarter of financial year 2026. Revenue was 11% lower than a year earlier. The group attributed the decline to substantially lower fishmeal sales volumes amid poor fish landings and depressed international fishmeal selling prices. The segment's profit before tax fell 19% to RM57.74 million, which the company attributed to margin erosion. These figures covered the group's marine products manufacturing segment.
Across the group, quarterly revenue was RM1.73 billion, compared with RM1.87 billion a year earlier. Net profit was RM116.23 million, down from RM128.28 million. For the first half of financial year 2026, group revenue was RM3.44 billion, compared with RM3.49 billion in the corresponding period. First-half net profit was RM216.83 million, compared with RM235.71 million. Quarterly operating profit was RM246.63 million, compared with RM272.54 million a year earlier.
