Segezha Group sets out leadership transition and operating priorities
Segezha names Alexander Kreschenko as its next president, with Mikhail Shamolin moving to board chair and Ali Uzdenov remaining a director.

Segezha Group has announced a leadership transition in which Mikhail Shamolin will move from president to chairman of the board of directors. Alexander Kreschenko, previously senior vice president and head of the Siberia division, will succeed him as president of the Russian forestry and wood-processing group.
Operating and strategic responsibilities
Shamolin's new remit concerns strategic development and shareholder value. Kreschenko's priorities are production efficiency, financial and operating results, customer and partner relationships, and new products and services. Ali Uzdenov, the previous chairman and a senior managing partner at Sistema, will remain a director representing the controlling investment group.

Manufacturing experience and product scope
Kreschenko joined Segezha in 2018 after holding management positions within Sistema. He worked on the development of the group's Galich plywood mill and led that enterprise for two years. Shamolin had headed Segezha for six years before the announced change in responsibilities.
The group's product portfolio includes large-format birch plywood and cross-laminated timber panels for wooden buildings. Its company presentation dated 26.06.2024 covered plywood for transport, construction and interior applications, alongside engineered timber products.

Products for different customer applications
Segezha identified 13 plywood types in its export portfolio, with named products for three application groups:
- Transport: LNG, Anthracite and Vulcan.
- Construction: Film Faced and Flex Ply.
- Interiors: Creative and Clear Ply.
Segezha presented a demonstration house made with cross-laminated timber panels at SYLVA WOOD 2024 in Shanghai. The house allowed potential customers to examine the material and engineering solutions used in timber construction.
Segezha LNG plywood was presented for constructing liquefied-natural-gas carriers in China. Potential buyers also included shipyards elsewhere in Southeast Asia. Analytics director Nadezhda Ryazantseva identified growing Chinese demand for birch plywood and expected additional orders. Strategic communications and brand vice-president Kermen Mandzhieva described China and Southeast Asia as priority markets.
