Simpson Manufacturing advances North American capacity projects
Simpson Manufacturing plans capacity investment in Columbus and Gallatin alongside new structural connectors for wood construction.

PLEASANTON, May 2, 2024 — Simpson Manufacturing is advancing North American capacity projects alongside investment in product development, software, equipment and process improvements. The company estimates 2024 capital expenditure at $185 million, including $105 million for expansion in Columbus, Ohio, and construction of a fastener facility in Gallatin, Tennessee.
North American sales volumes rose 8% in the first quarter of 2024, measured in pounds shipped compared with the first quarter of 2023. Regional net sales increased 0.1% to $406.7 million. Simpson is pursuing component-business growth with retail and original equipment manufacturing customers.
Fastener manufacturing in Gallatin
Simpson Strong-Tie announced the Gallatin project on Oct 30, 2023, with a planned investment of $110 million and 37 additional jobs. The new facility on Airport Road would accommodate the relocation of a portion of the company's fastener manufacturing operations. Design-build developer Al. Neyer is partnering with the company on the project.
Upon completion, Simpson Strong-Tie expected to employ nearly 250 people across Tennessee. The existing Gallatin operation manufactures structural screws, nails and Quik Drive collated fastening systems. The company planned an expansion that would more than double the operation's current manufacturing capacity and footprint, supporting its fastener production in the state.

New connectors for wood construction
Simpson Strong-Tie published its 2024–2025 Wood Construction Connectors catalog on Jan 10, 2024. The 372-page C-C-2024 edition covers connections between wood members and connections of wood to masonry or concrete. Specification information includes allowable loads, code reports, corrosion protection, coatings and fastener identification. Customers can obtain the catalog in print or download a PDF version with links to the company's web applications.
The expanded range includes the ACHZ adjustable post cap for new construction or retrofit work, with applications at mid-beam and end-beam connections. Four new connectors address mass timber construction, while two additional connectors serve offsite building methods. These additions include:
- ACBH concealed beam hangers and the HSKP heavy seated knife plate hanger for mass timber;
- the SCLC stair cassette ledger connector for joining preassembled stair cassettes to ledgers;
- the MASOZ mudsill anchor for factory-built, sheathed panels.
