ORANGE, Texas — USG Corporation plans a production facility with an initial investment of $650 million and a projected investment of $1.175 billion over the life of the project. The building materials manufacturer expects to create nearly 200 jobs. Governor Greg Abbott announced the project on 14 May 2026.
The Orange facility qualifies under the Texas Jobs, Energy, Technology and Innovation program, known as JETI. USG already has manufacturing operations in Dallas, Galena Park and Sweetwater.

USG is partnering with Little Cypress-Mauriceville Consolidated Independent School District through JETI. Superintendent Stacey Brister said the partnership would help align educational programs with workforce needs and prepare students for high-demand careers.
CEO Chris Macey described the Orange investment as a long-term commitment to Southeast Texas and to serving the company's customers. The May announcement did not disclose a construction or operating timetable.
