Bio Eneco sets out Gebeng biomass processing capacity
Bio Eneco’s Gebeng site can process up to 20,000 metric tonnes monthly, targeting exports to Japan, Thailand and the Philippines following its official opening.

Processing and export plans
Bio Eneco Sdn Bhd’s Gebeng biomass facility in Kuantan can process up to 20,000 metric tonnes of palm oil waste a month. The output is intended for export to Japan, Thailand and the Philippines. Bio Eneco is wholly owned by Elridge Energy Holdings Bhd, which manufactures and trades biomass fuels, particularly palm kernel shells. The plant began operating in 2025, before its formal opening ceremony.
Palm kernel shells are the shell fractions remaining after oil extraction from palm kernels during milling. In August 2024, the group’s biomass manufacturing and trading business also included wood pellets.
Executive director and chief executive officer Yeo Hock Cheong linked Gebeng’s location near the port to efficient export handling and large shipments. Gebeng is the company’s third plant location, following Telok Gong and Kapar in Klang. Yeo expects the next site, in Pasir Gudang, Johor, to begin operating in 2026.

Opening ceremony in Pahang
The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, officiated at the opening ceremony on 9th February 2026. The Gebeng plant has an annual capacity of 240,000 metric tonnes and processes palm kernel shells into biomass fuel. Yeo described the initiative as a way to reduce resource waste and support regional and international energy requirements.
The ceremony was attended by Pahang Agriculture, Agro-based Industry, Biotechnology and Education Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Soffi Abd Razak; Elridge Energy chairman Tan Sri Dr Azmil Khalili Khalid; Pahang Investment, Industries, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman Datuk Mohamad Nizar Najib; and Felda chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

Financing and regional supply
Elridge Energy places the development within a RM68.14 million capital expenditure programme for a network of facilities across Kuantan, Pasir Gudang and Lahad Datu. That figure covers the programme rather than Gebeng alone.
Bio Eneco identifies Gebeng as a Green Gold Label-certified facility designed for export-grade palm kernel shells. The company’s annual production target is up to 240,000 metric tonnes.
Earlier Thailand memorandum
On 21st January 2026, Elridge Energy, through Bio Eneco, signed a memorandum of understanding with Berkana Power Company Limited at its Kapar factory in Selangor, Malaysia. The memorandum envisages approximately 100,000 metric tonnes of biomass fuel annually for Thailand’s power generation market, with the following delivery framework:
- Ten shipments per year.
- An initial period of one year.
- An automatic renewal option.
The memorandum concerns Bio Eneco’s supply business; its volumes are not assigned specifically to Gebeng.
